Iran Vows “All Options on the Table” After U.S. Strikes, Launches New Attacks on Israel
22 tháng 6 2025
Tensions in the Middle East escalated dramatically on Sunday as Iran vowed to defend its sovereignty with “all options” following what it called “outrageous” U.S. airstrikes on three major nuclear enrichment facilities. Tehran also launched a fresh wave of missile and drone attacks targeting Israeli military sites — its 20th round of retaliatory strikes in just over a week.
Tehran Warns of ‘Everlasting Consequences’
Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi condemned the U.S. military action on Sunday, calling the strikes on Fordo, Natanz, and Isfahan nuclear sites “illegal, reckless, and criminal.” In a post on social media platform X, Araghchi warned that these actions would have “everlasting consequences” and urged the United Nations and the international community to take serious notice.
“Every member of the United Nations must be alarmed over this extremely dangerous, lawless, and criminal behavior,” he said.
He also accused both the U.S. and Israel of deliberately sabotaging ongoing diplomatic negotiations, adding:
“Last week, we were in negotiations with the U.S. when Israel decided to blow up that diplomacy. This week, we held talks with the E3/EU when the U.S. decided to blow up that diplomacy.”
Mutual Attacks Intensify Between Iran and Israel
Iran’s state-run Fars News Agency reported the launch of another coordinated attack targeting Israeli defense infrastructure, while the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed additional Iranian missile offensives and responded with counterstrikes on western Iran.
The region has seen continuous exchanges of fire since Israel conducted a surprise attack on Iranian military installations last week. According to Iran’s Health Ministry, at least 430 people have been killed in Iran so far. The United Nations reports 24 Israeli civilian deaths resulting from Iranian retaliation.
Trump Hails “Spectacular Success” – World Leaders Voice Concern
In a national address Saturday night, U.S. President Donald Trump claimed the airstrikes were a “spectacular military success” that “completely obliterated” Iran’s most advanced enrichment facilities. However, these statements have not been independently verified.
Both the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and Iran’s Nuclear Safety Center stated that no radioactive contamination was detected at any of the targeted sites as of Sunday morning (London time).
Trump issued a stern warning:
“There will be either peace, or there will be tragedy for Iran far greater than we have witnessed over the last eight days. Remember, there are many targets left.”
Global Reactions: Concern Over Rapid Escalation
The Israeli government welcomed Washington’s military intervention, with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stating that “President Trump’s bold decision will change history.”
However, other regional and global actors have urged caution:
Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Oman, and Qatar issued statements expressing deep concern over the U.S. strikes on Iranian soil.
Lebanon called for “restraint and the launch of serious negotiations” to restore peace in the region.
U.N. Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said he was “gravely concerned” by the U.S. use of force and warned of a “growing risk of uncontrolled regional conflict.”
Outlook: Middle East on a Knife’s Edge
The U.S. strike on Iran marks a turning point in regional geopolitics — potentially triggering a wider conflict involving multiple nations. With diplomacy breaking down and retaliatory attacks mounting, the coming days will be critical. The world now watches whether leaders will seek de-escalation — or choose the path of confrontation.
