RON 95 Gasoline Tops VND 20,000 per Liter as Diesel Prices Continue to Fall
08 tháng 8 2025
From 3:00 p.m. on August 7, domestic gasoline prices increased while several oil products saw further declines, according to the latest adjustment by Vietnam’s Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Ministry of Finance.
Slight Increase for Gasoline, Drop for Diesel
In this pricing cycle, RON 95-III gasoline — the most widely used type in the market — rose by VND 230 per liter to VND 20,070 per liter. E5 RON 92 gasoline increased by VND 200 per liter, reaching VND 19,600 per liter.
Conversely, diesel prices fell by VND 260 to VND 18,800 per liter. Kerosene dropped to VND 18,660 per liter, while mazut inched up to VND 15,640 per kilogram.
Price Stabilization Fund Remains Untapped
Authorities continued their policy of neither allocating to nor drawing from the Petroleum Price Stabilization Fund during this cycle. Thanks to consecutive periods without utilization, the fund’s balance at some key distributors remains at a healthy surplus.
As of the end of Q1 2025, the fund’s total balance stood at over VND 6.079 trillion, with Vietnam National Petroleum Group (Petrolimex) holding about half of this amount — VND 3.082 trillion.
Market and Consumer Impact
While the moderate gasoline price hike may add pressure to transportation costs and goods prices amid recovering consumer demand, the drop in diesel prices could provide relief for long-haul transport businesses and the logistics sector.
Energy experts note that future price movements will continue to depend on global crude oil fluctuations, strategic reserves policies of major economies, and overall energy supply-demand trends.
