Trump Finalizes Landmark Trade Deal with Indonesia
17 tháng 7 2025
This morning, former U.S. President Donald J. Trump announced a major trade agreement with the Republic of Indonesia, following discussions with President Prabowo Subianto. For the first time in history, Indonesia’s entire market will be open to the United States.
Under this agreement:
Indonesia commits to purchase:
- $15 billion in U.S. energy,
- $4.5 billion in American agricultural products,
- 50 Boeing jets, many of which are 777 models.
- U.S. businesses will now have complete and unrestricted access to Indonesia’s market of over 280 million people.
- Indonesia agrees to impose a 19% tariff on all goods exported to the United States.
In contrast, U.S. exports to Indonesia will be tariff-free, with no non-tariff barriers.
Any transshipment of goods from high-tariff countries through Indonesia will inherit the same tariff as Indonesia.
Trump stated: "We will keep DELIVERING for the American People, and the People of Indonesia!"
📈 Strategic Implications
This trade deal provides a significant boost to:
- U.S. agriculture and fisheries,
- The aviation industry, especially Boeing,
- U.S. energy exports to Southeast Asia.
It also strengthens efforts to reduce the American trade deficit and expand economic influence in ASEAN.
