Trump Urges Iran to Reach Nuclear Deal 'Before There Is Nothing Left'
13 tháng 6 2025
U.S. President Donald Trump on Friday morning called on Iran to urgently return to nuclear negotiations, warning that failure to do so could lead to irreversible consequences. The statement came just hours after Israel launched a wave of airstrikes targeting Iran’s nuclear infrastructure.
Rising Tensions After Israeli Strikes
Iranian state media reported that the strikes hit Tehran and Natanz, a key nuclear site. However, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) confirmed that the Isfahan nuclear facility was unaffected, and no radiation increases were observed at Natanz.
Israel stated that the operation aimed to disrupt Iran’s nuclear capabilities. The United States, while briefed in advance, clarified that it did not participate in the attacks.
Iranian sources claimed that Hossein Salam, commander of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), was killed in the strikes. Israel’s defense ministry reported that several senior IRGC officials were eliminated, though these claims have not been independently verified.
Trump’s Strong Message to Tehran
On his social platform, Truth Social, Trump said:
“I gave Iran chance after chance to make a deal. I also told them that the United States makes the best and most lethal military equipment anywhere in the world — BY FAR — and that Israel has a lot of it, with much more to come. And they know how to use it.”
He emphasized that the current situation could deteriorate rapidly but that diplomacy still offers a way out:
“Iran must make a deal, before there is nothing left, and save what was once known as the Iranian Empire.”
Nuclear Deal Hangs in the Balance
Trump withdrew the U.S. from the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) in 2018 during his first term, re-imposing severe economic sanctions on Iran. Since returning to the White House, Trump has expressed support for a new nuclear agreement, although no progress has been made.
The next round of U.S.-Iran nuclear negotiations was scheduled to take place Sunday in Oman, but Iranian state media reported that Tehran will not attend, following the Israeli attacks.
Global Reactions and Market Impact
World leaders have called for restraint amid concerns of an escalating conflict between Iran and Israel, which could destabilize the broader Middle East region, a vital hub for global oil supply.
Markets are closely watching whether the renewed hostilities between these two long-standing rivals will have ripple effects on energy prices and geopolitical stability.
