Vietnam Airlines Launches In-Flight Wi-Fi Service: Enhancing Connectivity, Elevating Competitiveness
06 tháng 8 2025
Vietnam Airlines (HOSE: HVN) officially rolled out its in-flight Internet service on August 5, 2025, joining a growing number of global carriers aiming to enhance passenger experience through seamless digital connectivity. This strategic move marks a significant step in the airline’s digital transformation and global competitiveness.
Three Flexible Packages for International Routes
Passengers flying international routes with Vietnam Airlines can now choose from three tailored Internet packages, depending on their needs:
Messaging Package (USD 5): Unlimited messaging throughout the flight via platforms like Zalo, WhatsApp, Viber, etc.
Web Access – 1 Hour (USD 10): Ideal for short-term browsing or work tasks.
Unlimited Web Access (USD 20): For passengers needing full access throughout the entire journey.
All packages are available directly through the onboard Wi-Fi portal, accessible from personal devices once the aircraft reaches cruising altitude.
Initial Rollout on Airbus A350 Aircraft
During the pilot phase (now through December 2025), the service is available exclusively on Airbus A350 aircraft equipped with satellite-based Internet systems. Vietnam Airlines plans to expand the service to other aircraft models in the near future, depending on system readiness and passenger feedback.
The technical infrastructure is a joint effort between Vietnam’s telecom giant VNPT and U.S.-based satellite provider Viasat, ensuring stable global coverage throughout the flight.
Special Offers During Initial Launch
To encourage adoption and enhance value:
Business class passengers will enjoy free unlimited web access during the entire flight.
All passengers (international and domestic) will receive 15 minutes of complimentary messaging access on supported apps.
Domestic Rollout Underway
For domestic routes, Vietnam Airlines is finalizing the payment integration system to align with local standards. The service will be launched across domestic flights as soon as the system is certified and operational in Vietnam.
Strategic Implications of In-Flight Connectivity
“In today's hyperconnected world, offering Internet access on board is crucial not only for improving passenger experience but also for strengthening our global brand and competitive edge,”
said Mr. Dang Anh Tuan, Deputy CEO of Vietnam Airlines.
The service aligns with Vietnam Airlines' broader strategy to digitize operations and deliver premium, tech-forward experiences to its customers.
Conclusion
Vietnam Airlines’ entry into the in-flight Wi-Fi market signals a major upgrade in service quality, aligning the airline with global aviation standards. In an era where seamless connectivity is essential, this new offering will likely become a core differentiator for business and leisure travelers alike.
As travel demand continues to recover and digital expectations rise, Vietnam Airlines is positioning itself to lead with both innovation and customer-centric service.
